Overview

Jeep Safari # 1 in the Algarve
If it’s fun, excitement and adventure you’re looking for.....then look no further! Let us take you off the beaten track… but straight into the heart of the Algarve! Traveling in a convoy of jeeps we go up hills and down dales, crossing streams and traversing meadows. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of an area almost untouched by time. Our journey will take us along winding earthen tracks to some the most fascinating places in the Algarve. In tiny white-washed villages where time seems to have stood still you can see some of the old customs still in practice. We will visit a small local distillery where the brave can sample “medronho” - a very potent local drink and where you can see honey being made in the age old way. The day includes a full, delicious lunch served in a typical restaurant.

Excellent Jeep Safari

Our driver Ricardo was very knowledgeable on this Jeep Safari. He picked us up from our hotel and a total of 8 + driver set off for the Monchique mountains. He stopped off at different vantage points explaining the different plants and also got to smell and taste the different plantations. The Mondronho fruit was in full bloom and we also got to taste this. Thank you..

Ricardo our driver was very knowledgeable and stopped throughout our tour giving us many scents and tastes of the plantation during our Jeep Safari...would recommend this tour when the weather is cloudy and at this time the Medronho plant has fruits which we tasted.
10/10 would most definitely recommend

Nearly gave this 4 stars, but it is a good day.
We had issues booking, as the confirmation stated the start was 9am at Portimao, not our hotel. We booked on line on a Saturday so could not ring the office to query. We decided we had better cancel as we could not get there for 9am. We received an email reply saying we were unable to cancel (despite the 24 hour 100% refund guarantee!). After a couple more emails, they confirmed pick up was our hotel, so we went ahead! All very confusing.
The day is really enjoyable , driving up into the mountains, sometime on small dirt tracks. The scenery is beautiful. Our driver, George (Jorge?) was very knowledgeable, flipping easily between French and English, and his native Portuguese. Lunch was…ok, small portion of veg soup, then chicken and chips, followed by an orange. Wine if you wanted. We stopped at a honey farm, where they also distilled the local spirit. You can buy both from the farmer. Another stop to look at the cork trees
It was good fun, seeing inland Algarve, looking at the native crops, trees etc.
George was interesting and funny, but unfortunately could not pick up that people did not want constant jokes and teasing, but sometimes just wanted to look around at the stunning views.

It’s a full day, 9am pick up , drop off at about 4.30pm, a couple of comfort stops, and lunch. A quick detour at the end to see the race track was good.
So…a couple of little issues….but a good day out.

We had an amazing day out and one we won't forget in a hurry. The day itself was incredible; climbing off road up the mountain, experiencing a traditional lunch (with unlimited wine!), finished with a sample of the local "fire water" drink and a view of the impressive Algarve race circuit. However, what really made the day was our driver Ricardo. Knowledgeable, a great driver and an even better sense of humour; he kept us entertainment and informed all day and his passion for Portugal shone through above all. 5/5, would recommend and we can't wait to come back and do it all again.
